Tim completed his Mining Engineering degree at the Cambourne School of Mines. He is highly respected in the industry with extensive global experience in the resources and civil engineering industries.
Tim joined Dyno Nobel in 1992 where he gained invaluable experience in multiple fields in the explosives industry. He was appointed President of Dyno Nobel’s Asia Pacific operations, and was also a member of the global management team.
Tim continued his career in the resources sector when he joined Lihir Gold where he managed their West African and PNG operations, and led the integration when Newcrest acquired Lihir. With the integration was completed, Tim moved on to establish his own exploration company.
Tim holds a number of board positions in resource and explosives companies, and he remains active in the exploration and mining industry.
Ivan completed his Mining Engineering qualifications at the Geological University, Moscow in 1993. Upon completion of his degree he worked with Raspadskaya Coal operations as their Moscow representative.
Ivan moved on and established his own company, Sibirit Service, supplying commercial explosives throughout Russia.
The entrepreneurial spirit continued to drive Ivan. In 2005, Ivan sold his company to the Nitro Sibir North Group. He is now a major shareholder and director of the combined entity.
In 2005 Ivan founded Sibirit Fin, a subsidiary of Nitro Sibir. He was responsible for breaking into the Scandinavian market and taking the first step outside of the Russian Federation for Nitro Sibir.
With successful expansions beyond the Russian Federation, Ivan followed through by initiating Nitro Sibir’s entry into the Australian market.
Product Manager | MSc (Chemistry)
Mariana is an Industrial Chemist with over 25 years of experience in explosives development and manufacture. Her career with Dyno Nobel saw her accumulated 15 years of experience in both R&D and plant management.
Of note is Mariana’s significant experience in the development of gas sensitizing technology of bulk emulsion; the enhancement of underground up hole bulk emulsions; and specialised products for hot and reactive ground.
In the field of packaged, cap sensitive products, Mariana led a development team responsible for transforming the ‘Emulite’ range of products into class leading examples of packaged explosives.
In 2005 Mariana established Explosive Manufacturing Services (EMS) which manufactured packaged ANFO and application specific tube charges. In 2009, EMS invested in a new plant to produce ‘Python’ water gel products – the key product in the range of the centrally corded continuous pre-split offering.
Mariana’s drive and experience continues to lead the innovation and development of Nitro Sibir Australia’s product range.
Technical Manager | BSc (Mining), BCom
Duncan is a Mining Engineer with over 28 years’ experience in the mining and explosives industries. With over 18 years working of experience working in Dyno Nobel, Duncan has gained experience in product development, procurement and logistics, business improvement and electronic detonators.
Duncan also holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree. He has a strong commercial focus ensuring that solutions deliver both on the technical requirements and the financials for sustainability.
With the move from Dyno Nobel, Duncan became a joint owner of EMS.
Duncan has a passion for continuous improvement and a drive for ongoing product development.
Commercial and Operations Manager | BSc (Mining), MBA
Karl is a Mining Engineer with an MBA. He has over 30 years of technical and management experience within the mining and explosives industries.
His career commenced in the deep level gold mines of South Africa, where he soon found his niche in open-pit blasting and commercial explosives. He spent 11 years working for Sasol Dyno Nobel (formally Ensign-Bickford, South Africa) and Sasol Nitro in technical, product and business manager positions before relocating to Australia in 2006 with Downer Blasting Service as an Area and State Manager.
Karl held the position of Area Construction Manager (Site Prep) on the Gorgon Project during the engineering phase before taking up technical services roles with BHP Billiton and Newcrest. Here his mining and blasting expertise proved invaluable in his leadership of the engineering teams in optimising mine planning and operations.
Karl joins Nitro Sibir Australia bringing with him strong technical and international explosives experience. He is a practical problem solver with keen focus on business development, efficiency, and technology.
Finance Manager | MProfAcc, CPA
Simona is a highly qualified accounting and finance professional with extensive experience in auditing, accounting and financial management.
She holds a Postgraduate Diploma of Management from CQU, Masters Degree from Bond University and is a member of Certified Practising Accountants in Australia.
Over her diverse career, Simona’s responsibilities have included managing business accounts, all operations of a finance and accounting department, and complex financial audits.
Prior to joining Nitro Sibir Australia, Simona spent four years as a CFO in an audio and video engineering company where she implemented new software that improved management control. She has also spent more than 10 years in auditing companies from various other industries.
With over 20 years’ experience in executive leadership, financial & accounting management and corporate development, Simona was appointed the role of Finance and Accounting Manager at NSA in 2014.
Operations Manager | Bachelor of Agriculture
Hendrik holds a Bachelor of Agriculture. He a thorough understanding of mechanical issues and the importance of technical support gained from his own business. He also serves on several community committees and has his Commercial Pilot licence.
Hendrik joined Orica in 2008 where he gained valuable experience in the explosive industry. In a supervising capacity, he was responsible for customer service, staff management and maintenance of equipment.
Hendrik joined NSA in 2015 and today, holds the position of Operations Manager where he contributes widely in the manufacturing and delivering of explosive products, technical maintenance and the daily operations of the company.
He is also responsible for the development of new systems and facilities for NSA enabling the company to deliver a high-quality product and services per customer needs and demands.
Hendrik sees his role in NSA as instrumental for the future with the need to continually improve and innovate to build opportunities in the mining and explosives industries.
